Nebraska was known as "The Great American Desert" for its vast desert land before many habitants begun planting more trees. Thus, the nickname of "Tree Planter's State" was associated with the State. However, Nebraska is better known as the "Cornhusker State" today.

But perhaps one of the staple canned foods in nearly every kitchen in America has a can of Spam in it, which was first produced in Fremont, Nebraska. Nebraska is also the birthplace of the famous kid's favorite, Kool-Aid; and the Reuben sandwich was invented here as well.
